GOOOOOOOOAAAAAL!!
The world cup has started, so I won't be thinking about anything else for the next month or so (and hoping that my supervisors don't notices that I am not all there). I have been waiting for it pretty much since the last one ended and the football, yeah football, at the Olympics was not the same. A few of my labmates think I am some crazy football fanatic (well, I agree with the crazy part).
Even though my country didn't make it, I'm still going to watch as many games as possible and today was definately a good start to that plan. We all went out for lunch (a good bye lunch for one of our co-workers who I don't really know but I couldn't pass on a free lunch) at the campus bar and we ended up staying there for over 3 hours and watched the entire game. My supervisor was there, so he couldn't complain about us skipping work, but by half way through, he looked like he was ready to leave, but no one would make eye contact with him.
The game itself was beautiful. That first goal by Germany in the 5th minute was perfect and equaliser was just as good. Actually all the goals were great. Even though I wanted to see Costa Rica win, simply because they were the underdogs, I have to say that I am not mad that Germany won. They really deserved it with their level of play.
As soon as it finished, he made sure we left and didn't get sucked into the second game between Poland and Ecuador. It didn't really matter because we had all pretty much checked out and none of get any work done afterwards since it was a Friday AND we had all just had a huge lunch AND some of us had had few drinks to go with the meal AND we had just seen a great game that was calling to be dissected.
What can I say, I LOVE football and it shall never be soccer. LONG LIVE FOOTBALL!!!
Peace Out!

Yes! Football!
I haven't gotten used to saying it as soccer and hope I never will either.
Chaptechie - glad you liked my blog. You should come visit some more.
Adeline - yeah me to. Plus I attack anyone who even thinks about mentioning the word soccer to me. Wait, how come you say football and not soccer? Everyone I've met from the US and Canada say soccer. Those crazy people.
Oh, and I just got back from the supermarket and I just got myself a couple of mangos, so I am all set. I'm off to watch some more football and eat my juicy mango. hehe.
'Cos I grew up in Asia and over there they say football. =D
Chillax playlist is finally up!!!
:)
gday saint....well i have to go for Australia......GO AUSTRALIA...sorry saint......enjoy the game and have plenty of mangoes and munchies avialable...Ag
Jodi - kicking things is fun, but kicking people and especially little kids is even better...I'm just kidding. That would be kinda mean actually.
Adeline - Sweet!
Vicky - Cool, I'm off to listen.
Ag - I don't really have a specific team that I am supporting, but I am sort of rooting for the various African teams. Other than that, I go by each game. I would definately be rooting for them in their game against Brazil, coz I really don't want Brazil to win it this time. Australia is in a pretty dificult group, so it could be hard for them to make it to the next round.
I was a wee bit late here..sorry:(
A fellow loverrrr of the beautiful game!!
As I said on my blog about the World cup "lets all get drunk and take our tops off" wooohoooo!!
